WHAT MAKES THIS DIFFERENT
An Implicit Bias Training you can
actually
enjoy
NICHED TOPIC
No broad strokes here. Instead of attempting to cover many areas of bias and coming up spread thin, we tackle the very prevelant and relevant topic of weight bias.
NOT BORING
Seriously.
Not boring.
One of the highest priorities for this training,
ENGAGING DELIVERY
No humdrum delivery methods here. We work hard to keep things moving. Save the yawning for bedtime.
THOUGHT PROVOKING
Developed to pose new ideas and perspectives. To inspire continued professional growth. And ultimately to provide our patients with the best care possible.
ACTIONABLE TAKE AWAYS
Fluffy theoretical concepts isn't how we roll. We believe trainings should provide steps that can be realistically and practically implemented.
MULTIPLE PRESENTERS
No one wants to sit and listen to droning. Hear many presenters offer their various views. Sharing expert, seasoned experience from the medical field. As well as personal stories.
And who created this Implicit Weight Bias Training?
Hi there! I'm Bethany Burgess.
EATING DISORDER THERAPIST, NATURE LOVER, NEAT FREAK, U.P. SUMMER ADVENTURER, SOCCER MOM, PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE ENTHUSIAST (WHHHHHHY IS THIS DRINK ONLY SEASONAL)
As both an eating disorder therapist, and as someone who identifies as being recovered from an eating disorder myself, this training is a professional and personal passion project. With body image being a core focus of eating disorder treatment, I have spent hours….. days… years immersed in the topic of mental health and weight. I have heard countless stories of how weight permeates so many facets of how people move through the world. In all variety of body sizes. Their own perceptions. And how they are treated by others. Including in medical setting. Especially in medical settings.
This training was painstakingly created to give a voice to those stories.
I had the honor of collaborating with some incredible colleagues to highlight a variety of professional voices, too. We hope it provides ideas for how to consider adjusting medical practices. Applicable suggestions. Realistically helpful strategies for improving client care.
And just as importantly, this training was created to be interesting for YOU, the provider. Your time is too valuable to spend it bored.

This Implicit Bias training is nothing like ones I've taken in the past. A different, fresh perspective on something I encounter daily. Thank you!
SARAH, RN
As not-boring as Implicit Bias training can probably get. We often don't get a lot of training on weight. I found these instructions to be easy to follow and somethings I am interested to try out.
JIM, MFT
Working in the eating disorder field for years, I was so excited to find a training tackling a topic that does not get enough attention. The training did not disappoint. Highly recommend for anyone.
KIM, LMSW
As a dentist, I am one of the first providers to see signs of a patient having bulimia. I'm grateful to have taken this training to feel more equipped to handle conversations I need to have with patients related to concerns about disordered eating. And overall it provided some perspectives of many other patients I hadn't really considered.
